It’s hit or miss picking books off a list of new releases. Sometimes you are just betting solely on whose PR person writes the better blurbs. A few months ago (October 2016) I wrote my first “Hey check out these new releases” book post for The Geekiverse. As I continue to explore how to make this a useful article for you, (and me, as I love to read and I find things to order) I am developing my style for this piece. I am a fan of new experiences…well, most times. This summer I traveled to the land of Harry Potter and I got to eat Haggis. That was a little scary, but I washed it down with pint of actual Guinness, so there was that. In the past couple days, I had the new experience of having my first taste of Klingon Bloodwine.

I’m a child of the 1970’s and, growing up, I most definitely remember my dad wandering around saying “1984 is coming.” The funny thing, living in 2017, I cannot think of what government surveillance thing would have happened in the 70’s to invoke that response from my dad. Eliot Peper’s novel Cumulus, drops us into the other side of that full surveillance society that my dad was concerned about – the corporate surveillance state.
