Nintendo advertised their April 12th Nintendo Direct as a showcase for the upcoming Switch titles ARMS and Splatoon2, and while those games got their moments in the spotlight, they certainly didn’t come alone. The 35-minute Direct allocated much of its time to announcing details and release dates for a variety of games–both retail and download–for the Nintendo Switch, as well as the 3DS.

A new era begins in the world of Nintendo tomorrow with the release of the hotly anticipated Switch. The unique platform will attempt to be a home console that you can take with you on the go, blurring the line between Nintendo’s home console and handheld divisions.
On October 20th, 2016, we finally learned what the mysterious Nintendo NX was–not quite your average home console, and not quite your average handheld, either. The reveal trailer for the aptly-named Nintendo Switch showed us a unique gaming platform that seemed to combine the the HD, living-room experience with an on-the-go ability to play. It generated a great deal of excitement, intrigue, and a litany of questions from fans.

Years after they are released, people look back at games and remember certain things. When I think back about Final Fantasy VII, I remember the death of Aeris; when I think about Unreal Tournament, I remember my adrenaline-fueled adventures with my first competitive online multiplayer; and when I think about Crysis, I remember how amazing it looked. Now, almost ten years after the release of the first game in the series, how will Crysis 3 be remembered?

Nintendo’s next console, codenamed “NX” is confirmed to be a thing, as per an official statement from Nintendo earlier today. It launches March 2017, but it won’t be shown off at this year’s E3 event.
