For the last decade or so, Nintendo has had this really peculiar trend with the quality of their E3 showings. One year, they’ll pull out all the stops and manage to wow even those gamers who claim to have grown too old for Mario and the gang. Then, the next year, they’ll put on just enough of a show to earn a participation award.
At E3 2014, Nintendo debuted their multi-day presentational format, featuring the Super Smash Bros. Invitational tournament, the Nintendo Digital Event, and the 24-hour Nintendo Treehouse. They showcased a host of great games that brought legitimacy back to the Wii U, and they revealed the hugely-popular Amiibo figurines. It all culminated in what was one of their biggest shows in a long time.
That can only mean one thing for their performance at E3 2015…
