Different Rogue One Blu-ray Editions & Where To Buy

It has become one of my favorite weeks of the year – the week that Star Wars comes out on Blu-ray & DVD. This year, we are graced with the presence of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Last year, I rounded up the different covers/cases for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Here are some of the different covers and where you can buy them via some of the biggest retailers.

This is the standard or “default” edition of Rogue One. Oddly enough, Amazon has stopped offering pre-orders on movies since the Fall. This is what their version will look like when it becomes available on Tuesday. I love this artwork. I think it includes everything that the film encompasses, and I’m even okay with not including Vader (the Death Star is the true antagonist).

This copy comes with the Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD.

If you simply want to download the movie in high definition, you can do so here via Amazon for $19.99.

Best Buy

While Best Buy if offering the same standard edition as Amazon (pictured above), this Steelbook is the edition I am personally picking up on Tuesday. We had to wait until November of last year to get a 3D edition of The Force Awakenswhich was a clear cash grab (the only difference between the Collector’s Edition and the original was the 3D and the commentary from JJ Abrams). This year, we get 3D Rogue One on day one.

Best Buy lists the special edition Steelbook for $24.99 (on sale from $29.99), which includes the 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital versions.

5 Alternate Steelbook Character Covers We Want

Target had the same idea we had, offering the movie with 5 interchangeable covers. They feature Cassian/K-2S0, Chirrut Imwe, Director Krennic/Death Trooper, Jyn Erso, and Saw Guerrea respectively.

The edition carries the 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital versions. It is listed as $27.99

Wal-Mart’s edition is my favorite cover. I wish it were a Steelbook.

Featuring the fan favorite K-2S0, this edition carries the Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital editions for $24.96.

You truly can’t go wrong with any of these editions. Best Buy is my winning choice for 2 years running now, as last year I went with the Kylo Ren/Captain Phasma Steelbook Blu-ray. Where will you be headed on day one? Ordering online? Let us know in the comments below!

Josiah LeRoy is The Geekiverse’s Star Wars Aficionado. He is dearly excited to see Rogue One for the 4th time this Tuesday.
