A match made in Heaven.
Master Chief meets The Traveler in the final DLC to Destiny, Bungie announced Saturday. In light of Destiny 2’s formal announcement this week, longtime Destiny fans will get one last bit of DLC to the original title as a sendoff. In a dreamlike scenario for sci-fi gaming fans, Destiny and Halo’s universes will collide. It is the first that Halo will appear on a platform that isn’t Microsoft (PC/Xbox).
While Playstation 4 typically gets DLC packs early, the shoe is on the other foot this time as Microsoft’s Xbox One will get early access. It was an unlikely partnership, but this shows that Microsoft is willing to play ball for its fans.
Head of Xbox Phil Spencer claimed “Destiny was spawned out of the Halo universe, and we’re excited that its coming home this Summer.”
It’s unclear where in the Halo (or Destiny) timeline this takes place, but the crossover has us drooling with anticipation. “Crimson Guardians” will cost a reported $4.99 USD and is scheduled to release this July.
