News dropped today that actor, Bill Paxton has died due to complications to surgery. Spoiler alert:That makes me totally grumpy.
Paxton was definitely an actor that I took for granted, and it took his death for me to realize how many of my favorite films that he was in. Twister is one of those films that I watch every single time I stumble on it. Apollo 13? Yeah, clear the afternoon, I am going nowhere.
Even his recent arc on Agents of SHIELD was a turning point in the show. It started to get good there, and while westerns and period pieces aren’t my thing, I really enjoyed both Paxton and Kevin Costner in the History Channel mini-series Hatfield’s and McCoys.
Paxton was a steady guy. Always a contributor, always a team/ensemble player. Even when he was in a cast with people like Tom Hanks, Gary Sinese and Kevin Bacon, or Helen Hunt or Kevin Costner, all greats, he was right there, for the good of the show, not upstaging. In a time were actors often like to shine for themselves, Hollywood is definitely not better off without him.
