X-Men movies without Patrick Stewart? Sadly, yes.

Actor Patrick Stewart is legendary. He’s played a number of iconic roles, but Professor Charles Xavier may be one of the most recognized. It certainly is amongst geeks.

He’s calling it a career! Stewart told a SiriusXM Town Hall that Logan would be his last time playing the role. Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine, confirmed that for the doubters. Stewart says he watched the movie in Berlin with Jackman and the director, James Mangold, and realized that was the best he could do.

Stewart  began playing the role in 2000 and with the release Logan, will have played the role of Dr. Xavier 7 times, along with voicing the role in multiple video games.

While we are sad he’s going, The Geekiverse thanks Patrick Stewart for his commitment to the X-Men franchise, and all he’s done for that series.
