Our Favorite TV Shows To Get You In The Halloween Spirit

What’s up geeks?! Halloween is just around the corner and I’m not sure if you’re like me but if you are, you’re probably trying to get into the full spirit of Halloween. What does this mean? Watching scary movies and TV shows of course! And we at the Geekiverse might just have that spooky show that you’ve been waiting to sink your fangs into.

Sam’s Pick- American Horror Story And Stranger Things

AHS

Okay so, I’ve just recently started getting into AHS, and it has that perfect amount of story and creepiness that just fits right into the fall holiday. There are currently six seasons – the most recent airing on FX. Each season has a new theme or story and  do not blend together but instead stand apart from one another. The show uses the same actors and actresses from previous seasons but puts them into new roles, which is refreshing and amazing. The show however can be graphic, so I would highly suggest not having your 6 year old watch it with you. There are five seasons that you can binge watch to your heart’s content on Netflix.

Stranger Things

I know I know… again Sam with Stranger things? It’s amazing and another perfect spooky  80’s paranormal TV show that makes you wonder and think. The characters are lovable, the acting is incredible and watching it feels like a really good Spielberg movie. The first season is on Netflix with a second season coming in Spring 2017.

Jo’s Pick – The Office Halloween Specials

The Office

Hear me out on this. The Office featured 4 Halloween episodes during its 9 year run and they are some of the best in the series. The costumes that the employees at Dunder Mifflin wear are authentic and true to form, capturing some of the most popular items in pop culture during that given year. For example, Creed, Kevin, and Dwight all dress up as Heath Ledger’s Joker in Season 5. You can find these episodes on Netflix currently. The seasons in which they are found are 2, 5, 7, and 8.

Another Halloween-themed show that gets me in the spirit is 3rd Rock From The Sun’s Halloween episode, released in the early stages of its run. 3rd Rock is one of the most underrated shows of all time. There’s nothing more priceless than seeing Harry Solomon dress up as an Alien. Lastly, I’d be totally remiss if I didn’t mention It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! It is my end-all, no questions asked favorite special. You can’t beat “I got a rock.”

Beta’s Pick – Black Mirror

This show is less of a freak out, jump-scare filled, slasher show and more of a psychological thriller in the spirit of The Twilight Zone. This British thriller series tells a new story every episode and focuses it around a new cast of characters and a new theme. The show is largely based on near future stories that follow the premise “what if technology could do __ for us”. The show is fast paced and will keep you on the edge of your seat. The show is currently streaming on Netflix.

SweetLou’s Pick- Supernatural

The favorite show that has even the slightest relation to Halloween has to be “Supernatural” Any show that deals with Hell, the devil, ghosts, hexes and spells is most definitely deserving of being considered a “Halloween” show. The Winchester brothers are some of my favorite characters to ever exist on television, and if any episode, from any season, is on, I can sit down and enjoy it. The creepy plot lines fall right in line with this holiday, and their episode with the killer ghost clown is the type of stuff that’ll have you sleeping with the lights on…..not that I know from experience. Just saying, I heard a friend did that.

Trevor’s Pick- The Walking Dead
negan_rick
There’s nothing that says Halloween like zombies, and there’s no other show on TV that does zombies like The Walking Dead. Their practical effects and zombie makeup even make the stars of the show creeped out sometimes, and I’d give anything to dress up as a zombie with the help of the costume department at AMC. Plus, the show is full of creepy scenes sure to scare even the veteran horror fanatics. Plus, if you’re not as talented in the makeup department, you can always dress up  as one of your favorite living characters! I’m sure this Halloween will be filled with many different Negans, just don’t put real barbed wire on your baseball bat.
I hope that this mini list was enough to get you into the Halloween spirit. Is there a show you’ve been watching and are dying to have other people know? Leave a comment! I’m sure most of us are dying for a new TV show to watch. So from all of us at the Geekiverse we wish you all a happy and spooky Halloween.  Cheers!
