Geekly Humpday: The Top 10 Franchises We Want In A Lego Video Game

After playing through Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we got to thinking: what franchises should get their own Lego games?

Welcome to the Geekly Humpday, mine & Josiah’s weekly segment to bring you what’s on our minds and a little something to help get you through the Wednesday work day.

Travelers’ Tales has crafted and rebuilt many successful games featuring our favorite franchises over the past 11 years. As for where we want to adventure next, here’s what we came up with:

1.Star Trek

With three recently rebooted movies out and a ton of material to work with, it’s kind of silly that this idea hasn’t been capitalized on and we’re sure all the Trekkies out there would agree that this is one Lego game that even Ambassador Spock would enjoy.

2.Guardians of The Galaxy

Can you imagine playing through the levels as Groot and trying to break out of prison? What about the epic showdown over Nova Prime? Sure, they feature as playable characters in Lego Marvel Super Heroes, but it’s time they got their own game.

Guardians of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix

This one is such a no brainer, we’re not sure why this hasn’t been done yet. We know that they touched on the series a bit in Lego Dimensions, but what about playing through each of the movies? Yes, including this year’s reboot…

4.The Hunger Games

The premise of the movies is a little intense, but the Lego video games have always done a good job of making light of similar events in a tasteful, adorable way. With 4 movies’ worth of material and story, we get the feeling this could be a big seller. You’re welcome, Travelers’ Tales.

5.Kingsmen: The Secret Service

2014’s Kingsmen came out of the woodworks and delivered one of the year’s most awesome, epic films. With a sequel on the horizon, the franchise is primed to reach new levels of popularity.

6.Star Wars: Rebels

We probably need one more season’s worth of content (Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars contained the first 3 seasons of the TV series), but Rebels is so popular with Star Wars fans and would make for an exciting followup to Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There’s a diverse cast of original characters and not to mention, some classic heroes and villains such as Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Princess Leia, and more. We can’t wait for season 3 to start (THRAWN!).

7.Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

8.Game of Thrones

Shockingly, Josiah came up with this one and not Sam! Though the source material of HBO’s mega popular show might be a little much for the Lego formula, the transformation to Legos would be a fun challenge to see come to fruition.

9.The Walking Dead

There’s so much lore in TWD universe, it’s hard to choose from the comics, the Telltale series, or the TV show. For this purpose, we’re thinking the TV show. Lego Zombies would be a first in video games – never bet against Zombies showing up in just about anything these days!

With Disney Infinity terminated, this leaves the door wide open for a big licensing opportunity. A mix of franchises would make for a superb Lego experience, namely Pixar titles. How cool would it be to play through levels in the Toy Story, Frozen, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc, and The Emperor’s New Groove universes? Just to name a few, of course.
