Injustice 2: Debut Trailer and Gameplay Reveal

The reveal teaser & first gameplay trailer have now been released for “Injustice 2”.

In case you haven’t already heard, following a leak from early GameStop promotional materials, Netherrealm Studios’ followup to 2013’s “Injustice: Gods Among Us” has officially been revealed.

Going by the name “Injustice 2” for the time being, here’s the official synopsis for the game:

Build and power up the ultimate version of your favorite DC legends in INJUSTICE 2. With a massive selection of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains, INJUSTICE 2 allows you to personalize iconic DC characters with unique and powerful gear. Take control over how your favorite characters look, how they fight, and how they develop across a huge variety of game modes. This is your Legend. Your Journey. Your Injustice.

Following this initial reveal, Netherrealm studio head Ed Boon has followed that up by premiering the first glimpse of gameplay from the new game at the Mortal Kombat X eSports finals:

We see here old favorites like Batman, Superman and Aquaman, as well as new fighters like Supergirl, Gorilla Grodd, Atrocitus and Black Manta. This trailer also shows off familiar mechnics such as environmental transition attacks and Super moves, but we also get a tease of some interesting additions via the synopsis, with a mention of personalizing DC heroes and villains in appearance and ability.

I personally was expecting a return to Mortal Kombat X’s well-received 3-variation system, but it seems that they’re taking the depth and strategy to a surprising place this time around.

“Injustice 2” will be appearing on consoles in 2017.
